A Discussion of the Seventeenth Century Particular Baptist Confessions of Faith---$5.95
17thcentury Published to examine the Historical, Political and Religious Background of the 1644 and 1689 Baptist Confessions of Faith.

There are those today who are claiming that the First London Confession in its 1644 and 1646 editions has a different view of the Law than does the Second London Confession of 1689. It is contended that the First London Confession has a New Covenant emphasis that was lost or eliminated in the Second London Confession. The Second London Confession, it is claimed, possessed an Old Covenant emphasis concerning the Law because of the influence of the Westminister Confession as its view was forced on Baptists by the historical, religious, and political climate of the day.

This present work by Dr. Belcher and Anthony Mattia examines these claims to determine their historical validity. The authors set forth the evidence from history in a clear and convincing manner as they reach definite conclusions concerning this important and controversial subject. This book is a must for those who want to inform themselves further about the religious and political background of the seventeenth century Baptist confessions of faith.

Luther Rice Pioneer in Missions and Education---$5.00
Luther Rice (1783-1836), following his conversion in 1802, evidenced for the remainder of his life a burden for the lost of the world. When his health failed in an attempt to be a missionary in India, he came back to America to stir others for the cause of missions. He never returned to India, but that did not keep him from being an instrument in God’s hand to promote the cause of world evangelism.

Among his many accomplishments he helped organize the General Convention of the Baptist Denomination in the United States for Foreign Missions. In 1821 he founded a college, Columbian College in Washington D.C. For the remainder of his life he sacrificed much for these causes so dear to his heart.

Above all Luther Rice was a godly man who sensed the reality of his own sin and the grace of God manifested to sinners. He was a man of conviction and prayer, full of power and devotion. He finally departed this world from Edgefield District in South Carolina after several weeks of sickness while on one of his many journeys for Christ.

May the Lord bless this new edition of Rice’s life as it goes forth to better inform modern believers of a very unique man of God!

Edward B. Pollard was professor of homiletics in Crozier Theological Seminary, 1906-1927. He was the primary author of this work.
